This little trip around the world quilt was on my design wall last week but it is all put together now and was given away at a baby shower on Sunday. My sister's first grandbaby and my mom's first great grandchild! (I fixed that strip in front and center that is up side down.) I started with a set of flannel receiving blankets that matched the baby's room and added flannels from there. The pink is minkee fabric, I love that stuff! It is so soft and cozy.
As I was working on this quilt, I remembered that I had a little bit of brown minkee left from backing this quilt. So I decided to make a second quilt to have on hand for another gift someday. I used flannel on the back of both quilts. They are both very cuddly!
I meant to take my camera along to the baby shower but I forgot it(I know... bad blogger!!) The shower was very nice. The baby isn't born yet but its a girl they say. She got loads of nice things, her mom and dad were not sure where they were going to put it all! Get used to it kids...babies come with lots of stuff!!!
As always I am linking up to Judy's Laquidara's Design Wall Monday Post . Check out her blog and if you can find the time this week she is having a Memorial Day Challenge project. She will be giving step by step instructions for a really nice quilt. Make the top and send it to her she will finish it up and donate it to Quilts of Valor for wounded soldiers. A very generous offer for a very worthy cause.
You might remember I showed the one she made for me awhile back.
Here they are together. Hers looks more "islandy" than mine. She made hers into two smaller wallhangings, very smart, since she gives so many things away.
I am quilting on another one for her now. It is another amazing paper pieced project. This one is larger and is one she will get to keep or so she says. I will try to share pictures of it later this week.
